A B-Spline Surface Interpolation Technique for Reconstructing 3D Objects from Serial Arbitrary Shaped Planar Contours

چکیده
A new method is presented to the B-spline surface presentation of an object defined by a set of parallel slices. For the application of Bspline inversion procedure, the methods about the data points generated are mainly introduced. The mesh of the data points is generated from interpolation curves of the vertex of the contour, which enable the interpolating surface to approximate the original object. It has the advantage that the reconstructed surface keep the smoothness in total longitudinal direction. The proposed method is also capable of handling the branching problem. Several experimental results corroborate the theory. The results show the image with high fidelity and the rendering speed are satisfactory and pleasing.

3D Reconstruction Using Cubic Bezier Spline Curves and Active Contours (Case Study)
Introduction 3D reconstruction of an object from its 2D cross-sections (slices) has many applications in different fields of sciences such as medical physics and biomedical engineering. In order to perform 3D reconstruction, at first, desired boundaries at each slice are detected and then using a correspondence between points of successive slices surface of desired object is reconstructed. متن کاملINTERPOLATION BY HYPERBOLIC B-SPLINE FUNCTIONS
In this paper we present a new kind of B-splines, called hyperbolic B-splines generated over the space spanned by hyperbolic functions and we use it to interpolate an arbitrary function on a set of points. Numerical tests for illustrating hyperbolic B-spline are presented.
متن کاملSurface Reconstruction from Sparse & Arbitrarily Oriented Contours in Freehand 3D Ultrasound
3D reconstruction for freehand 3D ultrasound is a challenging issue because the recorded B-scans are not only sparse, but also non-parallel (actually they may arbitrarily orient in 3D space and may intersect each other). Conventional volume reconstruction methods can’t reconstruct sparse data efficiently while not introducing geometrical artifacts and conventional surface reconstruction methods...
متن کامل3D Shape Modelling through a Constrained Estimation of a Bicubic B-spline Surface
This paper presents a new method to extract the 3D shape of objects from 3D gray level images using a bicubic B-spline surface model. Extraction of object shape is achieved through a hierarchical surface fitting by exploiting the multi-scale representation of the model. A strategy for converting the surface estimation into curve estimations is devised. The model surface is estimated by successi...
متن کاملA New Modeling Method for Objects with Branching Problem Using Non-uniform B-Spline
In many applications, objects are reconstructed from cross-sections for visualization, finite element and dynamic analysis. Although cross-section of an object may contain multiple contours, a few papers have dealt with branching problem. Moreover ends of branches are described flatly. In this paper, as a basic study for dynamic analysis of a human knee joint, we present a new modeling method w...
